Just saw the forecast on RTE. Looks like some interesting weather for the end of March. Dry weather Mon/Tues, followed by instability with LP over Britain with a return to easterlies by the weekend. Could we see anything unusual out of this?

Mild easterlies this time, probably cloudy and damp on the east coast.

Interestingly each run seems to make the 850's a little lower for Dublin.
The current Bracknell fax charts throw up some fascinating scenarios too on Thursday and Friday.
Winter may a little sting in its tail yet.

    What charts are these, Longfield?

We could potentially have the final wintry event coming up. I'm not going to mention the 'S' word for fear of antagonising the folk at lower levels!!

Certainly will be a twist at the end of this week. Lovely evening here but getting chilly now : +3.8c. Having some serious problems with my weather station server here, damn PC keeps crashing....

Hehe, schhh we'll get 'em worked up again lol!!
http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/brack3.gif looks interesting but don't let the lowlanders know I told you it might have something ending in w in it ;)

Honestly, if I was to bet on it, I'd go for some sleety stuff for us and above 800 metres or so lying midday snow, and rain for the lowlanders.

Could be some snow flurries around during tonight and early tomorrow with temperatures dipping to -2c, 850hpa down to -5/-6 and 500hpa thickness down below 528

A cool day tomorrow with temps just reaching 8c :)

I notice the BBC weather graphics recognise the wicklow mountains and put some snow over them tomorrow in the precipitation.

I can see lugnaquilla from here and theres a line of snow on it still that dates back to paddy's week end.
    It's lasting well up there!

why is there little or no talk about tonights event because earlier on the weather they mentioned wintry shower hail and sleet but with temperatures getting down as low as -1 in the east before the showers arrive anything could happen what ya think?

True, anything could happen but probability is dropping steeply as we head towards April. Currently 7c here, a long way to go before conditions are right for snow - and I'm on high ground.

I think you actually have a very good chance of seeing more of the white stuff tonight providing that you get enough showers reaching you. Down here it's a waste of time even thinking about it though, it's better to think of summer and the sea breezes we get that take the temps down in summer and up in winter:rolleyes:

After seeing the six one weather forecast, there does seem to be a chance of snow almost anywhere tonight but it could be quite hit and miss. The showers are to be alot more frequent later with thundersnow shown on the forecast so indeed anything is possible, still looking very good for longfield and arctictree imo

Good to hear, hasn't lasted on the peaks near here but Lug is far higher that said.
Know where I'm going for a drive this weekend so - as it's probably going to get a top up in the next couple of days.

Temperature falling slowly here, pretty certain any precipitation will be rain unless we get the sky's cleared for a period to drop the temperature. Its still a balmy 5.9°C with total cloud cover.

I'm not trying to ramp it up but there's plenty of time for temps to fall over here on the east coast, the showers are only beginning to push into the west now
    http://www.meteireann.ie/latest/rainfall_radar.asp
The temp here is 8.0C and dewpoint of 1.9C, falling quite fast though in broken cloudcover

Notice all the crap heading towards us from Scotland:

    http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/radar/index.html

Probably too warm for snow, depends on when that hits us....
