Black rope? (speed monitors)

    Just a quick question to anyone who might know. On my way to work the other day i noticed two black ropes for want of better words by the centra heading to the magic roundabout over by harvey normans. Thought nothing of it until today when i noticed the same type of contraption outside the city hall, quay side? Tis was right across the 4 lanes attached to a lamp post via a big f**k of chain.

    Anyone know what they are? Are these speed monitors?

    Think they monitor traffic flow for stats.

    theyre all over the place at the moment... I've driven over about 7 or 8 of them in the last few days. Must be that time of year again...
