Cost of Block-laying

    Hi Guys,
    Trying to get a decent price on a small wall about 40ft x 10 ft high, four pillars, all solid block, foundation already in.
    Been quoted 3,500. Is this off the mark or is it reasonable. Any ideas welcome.

    Couple of brickies quoted me at €1:50 a block for a 260 block wall. So €400 or so total.

    Afaik its the amount of blocks and whether its 2 days or one that matters most.

    I have been digging the foundation on and off for a month now, not even half done :D

    40 feet / 1.5 feet per block = 27 blocks long
    10 feet / 0.75 feet per block = 14 blocks high
    Length x height = 378 blocks (excl. pillars)

    Depending on your pillars, that seems close to a tenner a block???

    Comes down to quantities, good rate for 1,000 blocks € 1.80, expect to pay a little more for less. BTW, your calculation might not be correct if for example, the original quote is for 4" solids laid on flat. A 10' 0" would be constructed with 9" cavity or 4" solid (on flat). Walls > 1.8m/6'0" require planning permission.
