Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi guys,

my brother is a huge car enthusiast and his next project is going to be converting a MK1 fiesta to a rear wheel drive.

I was just wondering has anyone here attempted something similar and could they point me in the right direction for stuff to read up on

Firstly i have to say fair play to your brother for taking that on, i've seen rear wheel drive fiestas before an dthey're great, like an old rear wheel drive starlet but better.
Never done that conversion myself but i can advise you to go to everyfordireland.com and to the Turbosport an oldskoolford websites. You might also want to get on to the back issus section of "Classic ford" magazine, as they've had features on RWD fiestas

Thanks for the info lads. My brother is car nuts, he's lucky he can make a living out of what he loves.

the car itself is very rare due to all the skirts and lips that are on it, for now he just wants to get it running as standard but rear wheel drive

Is it an XR2? judging by "skirts and lips" that sounds like what it is...
Any pics....Please post some if you get a chance, and it'd be cool to take pics as project progresses. i must see it, i'm a classic ford addict.

I would love to see something like that in the flesh.

Fair play to him for taking it on.

If you get the drivetrain from a Subaru Justy, you could make it AWD!

There was some lad on the national rally circuit a few years back who had a Mk 2 Fiesta converted to RWD and powereed by a little screamer of an engine from a Suzuki Swift Gti. I think they used to call it the Fozuki.
