    Sup peeps..
    Ive been an online gamer now for about 4 years. My fav games are counter strike source, battlefield 2 and BF2142...

    im not really part of a "clan", and i have never been to a Lan event (sad i know..lol) but i do play regularly on various CSS & BF servers..
    what i was thinking the other night was how many "online" gamers do we have in ireland?? and also are there many clans in ireland, ones that have been going for a few years at least??

    i find more and more times when i say hello to ppl on servers a lot of them seem to be from ireland. Maybe its just my ignorance...lol...

    anyhoo, i have an end of year essay and im going to write it on "Computer Gaming In Ireland" and i tought id do some research here to see how many ppl do we really have that play online games in Ireland, wat sort of games they play, what sort of Pc they have etc... ill start the ball rolling...

    well wat i wanted to write about is how PC games and ppl who play them has become over the years a massive "community" thing here in Ireland, and more specifically what areas of ireland, the vast range of ages of the people who play, how often we upgrade etc...

    We do seem to have a decent "Online gaming population". I bump into more Irish then I do spanish french and italian. However nobody can touch the dutch when it comes to internet population.

    consoles: meh only interested in playing fps the proper way.

    games: TFC CS 1.6 CS:S q3a and ut (last two only on lan).

    some of the topics in your essay should include quake world (boards was basically was a quake forum, look where it is today), also another topic could be the demise of decent irish cs 1.6 teams in favour of wow and some players growing out of the game due to big changes made in the game.

    also last year ireland sent a team to the World Cyber Games for the first time ever this also is worth a mention (we didn't do too well on the pc side of things though, there's always this year though ;))

    As Cremo said 3 or more years ago we had a great Half-Life community here on the boards (Counter Strike, Team fortress before TF1.5). It died for a few reasons probably. Personally i got tired of the cheating and Valve destroying Team Fortress with 1.5. Move onto some MMOGs but am now seeking something new with a decent Irish community. Could use some suggestions.

    gamers arn't more concentrated in dublin, well anymore so than the population is....
