I know it's very recent but this song just made me stop everything to listen to it:

I think the OP is looking for songs that made you go that's a great song rather than oh god they mashed two ****e songs together and i'm finding it offensive so i better turn the ****ing radio off and find some decent music before i throw something violently at it.

    Ok, firstly, calm yourself down.

Secondly, i said it was recent and its not a life changing song, it's when I first heard it that it made me go "that was good". OP wasn't asking for songs that are life changing but where mind-blowing when you first heard it

I hadn't heard them before a few weeks ago and I heard this. It was like being a kid in the 80's playing my megadrive again... except better!

Right, close this thread straight away & delete if possible.

That just makes a mockery of everything else just said.

    Pathetic.

Help - The Beatles is the first song I can remember to really blow me away
Listening to Lola - The Kinks properly to the first time.
More recently Black Wave/Bad Vibrations - The Arcade Fire was a mindblower the first time. The whole of Neon Bible really, but this stood out so much the first time.

No, I had to stop everything too, pull over, turn off the engine, turn up the radio to make sure, I was actually hearing what I thought I was. I quickly wound down the window and vomited noisily and messily all over the side of the door. That fairly blew me away, I tell ya.
