Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

UK Operator and AFT

Im moving to the UK soon and was wondering if anyone could recommend me an operator to use?

I dont think i will be making to many calls, maybe a total of 20-30 mins a week at most. Not to many texts either so dont want a contract. So which PAYG operator would be the best for me to use?

I will have AFT set up on my phone with a dual sim holder. I will then have my Meteor sim in that to avail of the AFT and free messages back to Ireland(as i was told most UK operator charge 25p for a text to Ireland). Anyone envisage any problems with this? I was actually thinking of switching to O2 as they give 500messages whereas meteor only give 200.

So who can anyone recommend for PAYG in the UK?

where did you get those figures for the messages? meteor gives 300 and o2 gives 250 which can be sent to foreign numbers

I used AFT on my phone in prague at no extra cost so england shouldn't be a problem as long as:

    a) the phone is unlocked

    b) the dual sim holder works properly. i bought one on ebay and it was useless

A lad in work told me! Obviously he was talking out of his ars.e. Did meteor only recently increase their web texts to 300?

Im sure i will find a dual sim thats working, im in the process of getting my phone unlocked to so shouldnt get any problems there.

Just need to find the best PAYG operator now I should have a relativly cheap mobile service!

If you want to use aft, you don't actually have to have the Meteor SIM in the phone at the time. In fact, its better if you don't.

Just set up your phone to use the internet on whatever uk operator you have. The when you launch AFT it will use that network to connect to the AFT server, BUT you will be using your meteor account and webtexts.

It will be cheaper if you use the uk operator for AFT as you won't be roaming.

That said, you will obviously need the meteor SIM to recieve messages.

I bought an o2 sim for a friend in the UK, you might be better off getting an o2 sim instead of a meteor as you will be able to send texts to the UK with it aswell.

AFT texts in the UK are completely free as they give you like 1mb a month free. However you might have some issues getting the ISP access point activated.

I already have the ISP activated on the meteor sim. Don't think i'll bother changing over to O2 tbh, although it will be considered.

Anyone know if meteor's free texts can be sent internationally? I doubt it though.....

And back to english operators, can anyone recommend me one?

That doesnt matter, youll need to activate the ISP access point on your UK sim. Your meteor sim has nothing to do with it other than the webtext. And meteors webtexts can only be sent TO ireland
