    Folks,

This is a little warning and some advise needed aswell please.
I bought a 3 network phone about a month ago as a spare to my own phone and I was glad to have etc with the price plan suiting me. Its a pay as you go phone.
£ have recently launched a mobile broadband service, i.e. surf the net for X amount of MB of Days for a certain price. Now I was trying to get some info off the net on my phone and I signed up to it the other day. 5.99 for 100MB so I said it was grand etc. 2 days I was viewing tonnes of sites and had no trouble at all from the service until yesterday!!
Any site I tried to get onto a warning came up on the screen saying they needed my credit card details to "Age Verify" so I rang 333(Customer support) and asked them what was going on!! They told me I needed to give them my credit card details to view any 3rd party site and prove I was over 18!! Now I told them I had access for the previous 2 days and they just shrugged it off and said well give me your CC details and you can view whatever you want!! Now I told them I didn't have one and they said well you will have to go to your nearest 3 store and show them ID etc etc and they will sort it out for you!!

Now I have looked throught all their T&C's and nothing is mentioned of this and even 3 out of 5 customer support agents told me it was the law that they had to ask for the CC details/Age verification stuff!! Anytime I was put onto management they practically laughed at me and I asked for refund after refund to no avail until my 5th and final call to them yesterday!!

Now how can they advertise something like this and not tell anyone about the Age verify thing and get away with it??

I want to get onto a more senior person in the company and see what they say about this but I can't find any numbers yet!!

Tbh, whether its in their rules or not it makes sense from threes perspective. They had a PR disaster in italy when the launched mobile broadband as tech savvy teenagers soon copped on that they could download porn and it hit the press. Not sure of the rest of the details over whether they were fined or not. I'm sure they wish to avoid the same thing happening here.

It makes sense but the problem is you sign up and your credit is taken. YOu get your access for a few days then its taken off and your told that you cannot access it unless you give your CC details to them or go out of your way to the nearest 3 shop to show them ID!! If the info was there from the start then I would have made my decision on that and went ot the shop and shown ID before I signed up for it!!

Thats a fair enough point, the implimentation is well flawed. I'm on bill so it never caused me any problems.

Bill paying customers have to be over 18 in anyway so they don't have to prove their age for the service!!

So go to a 3 shop, I did this and it was back within a couple of hours.

I would if I had the time but at the moment I don't!! If it was a case of I knew before hand I wouldn't have signed up for it without going to a shop etc!!
