Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm looking to get a set of road tyres for covering long enough distances on my hardtail bike, are 1.1" tyre the most narrow ones that will fit 26" mtb wheels? Looking at these maybe..

I asked in cycleogical before and they told me that 1.25 was the smallest that could fit on a mtb rim, but i think someone on here posted before that they had 1.0's on a mtb. I'd say 1.1 would be plenty skinny though.

I''ve found Sheldon Brown's tyre sizing web page to be good to see what you can reasonably fit on rims:

Well.. after reading that I went and pumped my current 1.5" tyres to the recomended psi and it has improved my speed alot so I might hold out a while.

I recently did this, I took the 2.0" muds @ 45 psi off my hardtail (Trek 3700, stock rims) and put a set of Continental Sport 1.25" @ 65psi on it, and it's made the world of difference to my commuting. I'd say 20-30% faster, I did 410km on them this weekend, and no trouble at all on them.

I have the 1.5" ones @ 45psi now, the maximum limit on them is marked at 40psi but from what I have read that is more of a guideline to cover the manufacturer.

Maybe.... I blew up one of my road tyres by inflating it to 120psi, 20% higher than recommended.

Did it just blow out after a while?
