Ireland 152/8 from 35 overs (35 over match)

    Innings complete.

South Africa's target will be put through the Duckworth Lewis mangle, I reckon 160...

    10 minutes innings break.

It looked pretty desperate there for a while but they put in a decent score.

a 4.2 RR but some amazing bowling will be needed ;)

Some great work at the end. Gives us something to defend.

Need to bowl them out to win this.

Defending 160. Don't think it's enough, but a couple of quick ones could make life very interesting!

even though I know very little about cricket I couldn't resist a small wager on Ireland at 48's there.

Having never managed to work out the D/L method, why would SA be set more than 153, if they have the same number of overs to bat out?
I could understand a reduced total with fewer overs but an increased total seems odd?

    Stolen from cric info:
You've been asking why D/L adjusts the target. Well, Ireland's innings was interrupted (and not just once, but twice). So, they thought they had 50 overs originally and batted accordingly. Given that in the end they only had 35 overs, the target is adjusted upwards - the theory being that if they had known from the start they had 35, they would have hit out earlier. Wickets are a factor, too - the more you lose, the lower the revised target is. It makes sense if you think about it

    Its quite simple really. Honest!

Ireland when they started their innings, had a full 50 overs to bat, and set out their stall accordingly. Because their innings was stop-start (3 interruptions) it made for re-adjustments. That's why South Africa have a higher target to chase. D/L just factored in what Ireland Could have got from 35 overs, when they had a full 50 overs to go for in the beginning.

Its higher mostly cause Ireland thought they had 50ovs beginning and batted accordingly. Similarly after the first stoppage they thought they had 47 ovs and batted accordingly. SA have a bit of an advantage knowing that there is 35 ovs, so the target is adjusted slightly

The adjustment would have been greater had Ireland lost less wickets

Great shot for 4 by Graeme to release the shackles on his innings. Straight down the ground.

Damn... the guy that designed the WC mascot shoud be shot... "Mello" is just lame.

Another great 4 chipped over the infield by Smithy
