Damn... the guy that designed the WC mascot shoud be shot... "Mello" is just lame.

Of all the mascots in world games tournaments, I think Mello is one of the best, tbh. There have been loads of lame mascots in years gone by....

I think the Italia 90 was a cool one, but maybe thats just nostalgia

Take it from where it comes. I would've expected more from the Windies. The Italia '90 mascot was quite an achievement for my Italian cousins :D (Just kidding)

Edit: Mooney is playing fetch with Smithy... only problem is that it's his team mates doing the fetchin.

That sums up Ireland's pluck this tournament. Even when they're down and out, they refuse to give up. And his Irish jig to celebrate the wicket sums up a captain just happy to be leading his troops. Maybe other teams could learn from Ireland.
12.1 Johnston to Smith, OUT, what a catch! That is a quite brilliant, reflex snaffle from Johnston. A full toss which Smith hammered back to him, no more than four or five inches above the ground, and Johnston plucked it out of the air

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,854 ✭✭✭zuutroy

Botha and TJ could give them a bit to think about over the next few

Its so true. Fantastic that its our own country still performing. Still trying. Lesser sides would've caved in. They truely have put the fun back into this World Cup.

My first thought was out there....didn't make much of a play of it though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,726 ✭✭✭✭DMC

Mike... looks like it won't be the win and massive improvement in net run rate South Africa would've looked for at the start of this?

He'll have to play himself in... get used to the light etc... This is not the romp to victory that SA were clearly looking for.

I kinda put the mockers on that... since then Rankin and Johnston had decent chances....

A totally silly question I'm sure, but does anything happen if you hit the stumps opposite you?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,800 ✭✭✭county

45 runs needed from 66 balls

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,854 ✭✭✭zuutroy

I think that hump in the SA run rate is down to Mooney alone...He put us in a hole

Always a teaser this one. :) If the batsman hits the ball and then it hits the stumps at the other end, nothing happens. No one is out. If a member of the fielding team gets in the way and deflects the ball onto the stumps, and the non-striking batsman is out of the ground, he will be run out.
