Hi - I have a query, is there such a device that you could buy that would indicate a persons position on a map (like Google maps) and update automatically as they move about.
I am interested in this for people tracking a sponsored walk accross northern Spain... Does such a product exist - any idea on price?

    Hi There,

Just looking at your thread for a tracking system. Did you get one in the end or no.

As I supply one without ongoing annual fee's

It targets the plant machinery end of the market but can be installed on any vehicle.

    Cheers,

I recently bought a Globalsat TR102 from Ebay, it cost me £120 sterling and will do exactly what you want, it will relay the position of the tracker via text message or GPRS through gpsgate.com or similar.
If someone on the group has a bluetooth enabled phone you could just get them to carry a bluetooth gps aswell and install the gpsgate application on their phone and you could do the same thing. It would obviously be a bit cheaper that way.
GPRS would be the best way to go overall but watch out for GPRS roaming charges, might be better to go with a Spanish SIM.
