Wat do you think of the clubs and societies in itt?
I think they're really good but it would be even better if there was more.
Any comments about this would be helpful. :)

    Wooooh! NETSOC!

sorry im P.R.O of netsoc im required to say that....

Clubs and socs have gone downhill in recent years... they used to be great... now its either people dont have time or there just isnt the same buzz about them there used to be..

ive been in the college 4 years (and proably will be there for another 2, thanks to my repeating ways) I think the SU needs to make more noise..

The best year in ITT that ive had is when the Lyn and the Girls were running the SU.. even if there was little on for a couple of weeks they'd make sure everyone knew what was happening and would work to get us promotions and stuff in bars round dublin...

the lads could learn alot from them..

we're not quite a gaming soc, even though we have been known to organise gaming nights in the past... our previous venues have either been disapointing or have closed down + demand for these hasnt really been that high this year so we havent activly been seeking a new venue... and gaming in college is something you can get a disaplinary hearing for... there was a gaming soc set up for consoles ect.. but im not sure what happened to that...

what we do do though is provide a means to get access to your files from home and offer forums and an inter college chat service (IRC)... if your interesting in signing up email me at hobochris[at]gmail[dot]com

    or go to http://www.it-netsoc.ie/

You're probably much better off joining NETSOC and being proactive about organising gaming nights.

I'm the Clubs & Soc's officer in ITTSU, personally I would like to see the clubs & socs being more active throughout the college, and as for having the SU get their finger out, how are we meant to know if a particular club or society needs help? It's your committee's job to let us know if you need help...

A lot of the problems faced by various clubs and socs is all down to communication...

yeah thats a very good point,im in the paintballing soc and kayaking soc aswell and theres a big difference in both in that the kayaking soc leader communicates more with the people in the soc and more is done(just recently had a raffle to raise money) but the only time i hear anything from the paintballing is a few days before an event is occurring and because of this the last few times not enough people turned up for the event and it had to be cancelled.

Lads, if you wanted, we could look into a sub-forum here for announcing things.

Seems a bit overkill. Why not just make thread announcing it? Traffic to this forum is quiet enough, a subforum would be even less so.

as long as people can properly see the new notices then it doesnt matter what is used to show them
