Here's a quote from the dedication in a computer programming book my dad bought:

My brother mentioned to me (dunno where he got this from) that loads of computer programmers in the US are creationists.

Have to agree with this. It seems to be extremely common in programming and computation disciplines. It doesn't surprise me though, logic is only as good as the premises it's based on. Programmers rarely have faulty premises to deal with. The code works, and if doesn't, or they find a bug, they usually find a work around without really needing to know anything more or acquiring any skills that might enable them to think outside the box. I think it's the same reason why you can have brilliant scientists who believe in deity. Their research work, skills and experiences they have accumulated simply haven't taught them how to look critically at things.

Now to anyone reading this thinking I'm saying we're better thinkers, I'm not. I'm saying we just learned, for whatever reason, to approach the God issue differently.

In most cases it's just that we've bothered to think about it critically at all.

Scientists in general though I would think more likely to be atheist, because either their field of work approaches the topic or they tend to be the type of people who don't just accept things blindly on face value.

Not directly Religion related really, but still good.

I don't think it did happen.
    http://skeptics.stackexchange.com/questions/6828/was-the-experiment-with-five-monkeys-a-ladder-a-banana-and-a-water-spray-cond

The story of the ladder and the 5 monkeys probably arose out of some kind of attempt to retell the original experiment in a simpler way.

I have to admit I laughed at this from the thread though:
Here is a quote from an "anthropology professor who's worked with hundreds of monkeys over the last 30 years." When asked what he thought of the experiment, he responded succinctly with:

"If you have bananas on a pole, you'll lose your bananas."

The first bit is hard to read all the way through but it's worth it for the response - from God himself!

Could make for a fun epitaph:

A terrible pun did he make,
A death by the musket; for persisting, was his greatest mistake.

    Love that!

Possibly because it's one of those jokes that makes you think you're clever because you get the reference. :)

It also brings to mind Dara Obrians scent marking clergy. You'll get the connection with Dilophisaurus and that picture if you know the bit I'm talking about

Isn't it terrible that you can't even go out and do a bit of shopping without getting preached to. Got stopped by a couple of women at the local retail park, they felt i needed to be saved!! They gave me this.

    7691554794_0a52d0ce75_z.jpg

They best argument they could put forward was pascal's wager. I kinda felt sorry for them but i left them with a quote from the bible that i felt was relevant.

    "Timothy 2:12
12: But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence."

I'm sure they'll be praying for my soul tonight.
