A friend emailed this original ditty to me. No comments about gay lava :)

    All things harsh and hideous,
    All scourges slight and fell,
    All things mean and murderous,
The Lord made them as well.

Each little germ that plagues us,
    Each little bug that stings,
    He made their garish symptoms,
    He made their droning wings:
    All things harsh and hideous,…

    Each bodily enormity,
    Each cerebral murrain,
    He made every deformity,
    He made each cankered brain:
    All things harsh and hideous,…

The rich man on the fiddle,
The poor man on the dole,
    He sends them ills appropriate
    To gentleman and prole:
    All things harsh and hideous,…

    The ague and the palsy,
    The strangulating wheeze,
    The ulcer and the cancer
    That kill by slow degrees:
    All things harsh and hideous,…

    The hurricane and whirlwind,
    The river flooding out,
    The famine and starvation
    That follow upon drought:
    All things harsh and hideous,…

    The earthquake and eruption,
    The lava running gay,
    The tidal wave and mudslide
    That sweep all life away:
    All things harsh and hideous,…

He gave us nerves to feel them
And minds that we might know
    How pitiless His Power
    That ordered all things so:

    All things harsh and hideous,
    All scourges slight and fell,
    All things mean and murderous,
The Lord made them as well.

If all the rioters did that instead, the world would be a much better place.

Absolutely. Fight cartoons with cartoons, and when we're not bothered maybe they'll realise that ink on paper is just ink on paper.

The pen is mightier than the sword of islam.

Hmm, that sounded funnier in my head

That is so deeply sad. (And ingenious).

    From irvine welsh on twitter:
The only reason Christianity is less dangerous than Islam is because a lot more "christians" know that their religion is utter nonsense

Holy fsck, is the whole Kolob thing actually a Mormon thing? Admittedly my entire knowledge of the religion encompasses that South Park episode and this forum, so it makes it kind of hard to distinguish the "real" from the fake.

Anyone else notice what you get if you spell Kolob backwards?

Sure isn't BSG heavily influenced by Mormonism? Might explain the rubbish third and fourth season. (Excluding the awesome third season intro ofc)

ISTR that all the stuff in South Park is what they really believe. I do know that it's not all they believe, not by a long shot. I must admit that it took me some time to fully believe the holy underpants thing.

Wait, hang on! You mean the holy underpants thing is actually serious!?
(I'd always thought it was one of those jokes like baby eating atheists, kind of things.)
It's almost like someone just smacked me on the face with a cold towel. :o

IIRC, Mormons have to wear special underwear.

    It's called a temple garment.

Hang on- vague memories of this coming to light over some case where a woman kidnapped a Mormon...

Edit - found it! 1977 in England.
A young Mormon missionary named Kirk Anderson went missing in 1977, in Ewell, Surrey, after he was abducted from the steps of a meetinghouse of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A few days later a freed Anderson made a report to the police that he had been abducted, driven to Devon, and imprisoned against his will, chained to a bed in a cottage, where Joyce Bernann McKinney (b. August 1949) — a former Miss Wyoming World — had abducted, attempted to seduce, and then raped him. The case became known by many sobriquets, including "The Mormon sex in chains case" and "The Case of the Manacled Mormon."
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mormon_sex_in_chains_case

If memory serves there was much amusement at the time over the special underwear...

(sorry but south park was in my head)

No it's not and I never said it was.

I said at the time there was amusement when the story of the holy underwear emerged. At no point did I say I (who was all of 13 at the time) shared that amusement. But yes, in the era of the likes of the Sweeney, Bernard Manning and Benny Hill on TV people did find the idea that men are victims of rape hard to accept and it was much easier to laugh at the notion of knickers of protection.
