I have a question for ya lads, perhaps for some light discussion. lolz.

What do you consider carebearing in Eve? Do you draw the line anywhere at the various in game careers? Would you consider ninja mining in deep 0.0 carebearing? Do you think anything that doesn't involve killing another player to be the way of the care bear? This is indeed more then one question and I lied in my opening.

Personally I consider anything non-pvp or non-helpful-to-pvp-in-a-war-situation to be care bearing.

I always got the impression that care bearing was being nice to newbies :P

Every thing in the game is pvp

Trying to find that sweet mining spot before someone else
Trying to sell your ship/mod at a profit before someone else undercuts you
    Trying to kill players
Trying to get the nice ratting spot before someone else

    etc

Your compeating against other players pritty much all the tme

Unless you're missioning, right? You don't run out of those.

Bah thats not real pvp. Thats just multiplayer. Of course you're competing. pvp is when you go head on. Player vs Player.

Yeah, the whole pvp mining idea is a bit bleugh unless it's in somewhere risky and dodgey, then I'd say yay pvp. All the economics etc, meh, I could just send the data off to some Trinity economics nerds and they'd magic me up some strategies not even knowing it's a game.

Carebear - Sitting in 0.5 Space and Above mission running and mining for your entire eve life.

0.0 Carebear - Not participating in fighting at all (aka farmers) :D

I'd agree with R0ot's Definition to a degree. 0.0 Carebear's are necessary to support any war effort to gather resources and manufacture arms and ammunition.

I think you will always have carebear's because take any pure miner, they will have excellent industrial/manufacturing/ore processing skills and very basic combat skills. In EvE you have to specialise, its impossible to do both professions well, which is why I run two accounts... One Mines in 0.0 & the other PvP's in 0.0

Am I a Carebear? I don't think so! why? When the **** hits the fan and there is a battle to be fought, you can bet yer ass i'll have a ship in thick of it for some pew! pew! pew! because thats where the fun is to be had. EvE is an interesting game in that some pilots seem to have an emotional attachment to their ship that they are flying. As soon as you accept that your ship is already blown up and turned into space dust you are then ready to function as a PvP Pilot in EvE, until then you will always be holding back. Real men structure tank FTW :-)

BoB said it best, PVPers can mine but miners can't pvp :D

Carebearing, doing missions in a carrier or level 3's in a battleship fitted with faction loot.

Or mining in a carrier, or mining veld in a hulk in a .5 and never going near 0.0 with it.

Carebearing is never taking a risk even if the risk is quite remote while employing methods that would be considered overkill for the task at hand. Essentially, easy mode for the game.

I much prefer Mantel's definition! Cause then I'm not a carebear cause I get podded all the time :(

...though most of my risks involve attacking Renesco while I'm in a bantam :o

    awwww yeah !

carebearing is farming missions in a raven and never pvp'ing, making profit for no reason other than to make profit...

Even though I havent pvp'd for a while (I just couldnt be arsed, just do some semi afk mining and the odd mission) I think that just mining/missioning/ratting _continuously_ is carebearing ...... but then again, without money coming in you wont have money going out ... lots of people have two accounts, one for making iskies and one for losing iskies .... the problem as always is that most people (yeah, me one of them) lose ships a damn sight faster than we can replace them, so you have to do quite a bit of carebearing :(

A friend has created his 3rd account and is using it exclusively for pvp. He is still in Brutor Tribe and has got a group of about 13 other newbs to go hunting. 13 rifters can take a lot of ships out. I think that until you have good skills and phat l3wt the most sustainable pvp is frigate gangs. Once a week get with your corp mates and go on a run.

    Frigate Fleets are the best...

Biggest one I was ever in had abut 70 ships, most of them tech 1, it was glorious, I felt like a spartan, no surrender no retreat, glory in the battle field.

I want that... I want that so badly! Who's up for it?!?! I'll bring a merlin!

I too recently opened a 3rd account for PvP. I'd be interested in joining a frigate -only pvp corp for the laugh. Its low-sec comedy voilence at its best.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,111 ✭✭✭tba

I would gladly move to a corp that was a frigate only PVP (with missions for iskies) gang of annoying ants.

Here at North Eastern Swat we like to out and poon anyone who ain't blue in AF/Ceptor gank gangs, it's fun. GREAT SUCESS :)

Of course I always die however

You'd be surprised what you can take down with gangs like these, and if the **** hits the fan, which it will, you can get out quickly.

    Well you can, I won't :(

the thing with af/inty gangs is you care about it, you'll be making decisions based on whether you'll make it out or not ..... with a low skill alt char in a frigate and a big gang you dont give a crap and you leroy the enemy and they either stand and make mincemeat of you or the freak out and run for it ... beware the suicide smartbomb domi though

(is it just me or is anyone else annoyed that there is no graphic for smartbombs)
