    Hi,

My wife is french and I'm just wondering is it possible to tune in your sky box to pick up French FTA channels by entering in feq etc.

If the above is possible, can someone provide some channels with the feq and other required parameters.

    Ta.

    G..

Tv5 is available on the sky platform but is not fta, you should be able to access it on channel 802

You are best to get a dish pointed at 5W for most of the main French stations, free.

Steveon, TV5 is NOT for French people. It's for foreign french speakers.

There are also French on 13E , Free and pay packages such as ABSat & Canal+.

Maplin or www.satellite.ie or a french supermarket for a system.

For a Native French person the Sky Digibox / Sky platfom is fairly useless.

Again not very exciting for ANYONE, never mind a Native French. Good point though.

Will this involve a dedicated reciever?

Probably a specific CAM and viewing card. Not-A-Sky-box

Does anybody know where to get more info on the channels included in the TNT package?

Although we're now drifting towards the terrestrial department.

As mentioned in post #3, lots of French channels free to air on Hotbird, at 13degs. As I type this, I'm listening to Frequence Jazz(cool music!), on the Csat bouquet. FIP is another favourite.:)

Into Translate Page. OK. poor, but better than MY French.

TNT stands for Television Numerique Terrestial that is Digital Terrestial Television.
You won't get get it outside mainland France.
It is only being rolled out in some of the more rural/mountainous areas now.
Think of it as Freeview in the UK.
If you are somewhere you can get it, on the Borders perhaps, there are approximately 19 free channels. The decoders cost from €49 in the supermarkets.

According to the latest info on Monday last the eighteen TNT channels will be available on satellite tv from mid June. The decorder will cost 200 euros and the supplied card (price unknown but very cheap) will have to be renewed every four years....
The Sagem decoder will be in short supply initially but as they become more plentiful they will drop in price to around 100 euros............initially only available in areas where 'normal' TNT will never be provided.

And yes the decoder and card will only be available in France.

    ... for supply :)

Technically if they're on a Sat they're not TNT.
None of those stations are specifically TNT they are just carried on TNT. Firstly some or all were terrestial, then Sat, then TNT, then Sat again.
And Ireland can't even get it's home channels on Sat without getting into bed with a foreign commercial broadcaster... My grandchildren might see Irish Digital Terrestial TV.

Best is 5W, main national channels in Clear DVB or/and hook up an analogue receiver to get TF1 as well but it is SECAM.

Otherwise, France24 is on 13E/19E along with ARTE both FTA,
