Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Rory McIlroy is through to the last 16 of the Radisson-SAS West of Ireland Championship thanks to a 3 & 2 victory over Galway's Eddie McCormack in the second round at Rosses Point.

The 17-year-old from Holywood is now just four wins away from matching Joe Carr's feat of 1962 and winning the West three years in succession.

McIlroy will face Rory Leonard of Banbridge in the third round at 8.30 on Monday morning following Leonard's 2 & 1 win over Tommy Walsh of Claremorris.

McIlroy recorded a 2 & 1 win over Portmarnock's David Kelleher. The teenager was five-under-par for the 17 holes played.

One of the biggest surprises of the first round was a 20th hole defeat for international Niall Kearney of Royal Dublin, the victim of a great short game display by 17-year-old Strandhill schoolboy Tommy McGowan.

Elsewhere, the leading qualifier Simon Ward of Co Louth had a 4 & 3 win over Alan Condren of Greystones.

Darren Crowe of Dunmurry was a 2 & 1 winner over Birr's Stephen Grant and Shane Lowry of Esker Hills, joint second in the qualifying, was a 6 & 5 winner over David Kneafsey of Sudbury.

Tommy then beat a chap from England (Can't remember his name) in the afternoon so he's in the last 16 for tomorrow!

    Can't wait for the morning!:D

McElroy lost in the quarter final this afternoon.
The man who beat him, Cutler, faces Tommy McGowan tomorrow morning in the semi final.

    (Wohoo!)

Well he was beaten on the 20th Hole this morning.
Played brilliantly but Cutler found his putter on the 15th & 16th and capped it off with a sublime chip from the rough into the hole on the 17th to go one up going into the last.
Tommy birdied the 18th to make it all square and they shared the 19th.
Tommy over hit his second shot on 20 which left him in trouble and Cutler got his par.

    Great match!
Hope Cutler does it in the final!
