Tis cruel on Kevin just 1 off his half century!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 50 ✭✭jjohnson1984

Especially when his brother is playing for himself and not the team, You have Kevin with 49 off 45 trying at least to win the match whilst Niall is going at a snails pace with 28 of 72 which is ridicolous in a one day game.

Pains me to say it but he may as well try and score some runs.rather than batting like that, yes ireland might not bat out their 50 overs, but if they are not going to try and win games they may as well not be bloody in the Super eights.

Yea i'd really like to see Ireland just wacking it now, they might aswell just put the throttle down and pelt them they have 6 wickets in hand but only 18 overs and they need to be hitting 8 run overs.

Niall Out. Awful Innings. He's used up the equivlent of 12 overs all by himself scoring just 30 runs. Ireland would have been better off him being out first ball.

This has been very disappointing. I expected more of a spirited performance. Hopefully we dont just fizz out for the remaining matches

    Exactly.
Need to take risks early on if you are to have a chance of winning instead of leaving it all to do in the latter overs.
    28 off 72 is rubbish.

Even England would be hard pressed to be that bad (someone will post a result to disprove me proberly).

Thats not true at all in my mind. They were right in contention before that blitz in the last 5 by NZ. That took the game away from them.

Even in reply they were still there up until that bloody run out. 110-3 I think, but that ended the game as a contest. But it certainly was competitive for the most part.

Just like to add, fair play to the sky pundits. Referring especially to nick knight and paul allott. They're very positive about Irish cricket and the future for Ireland. Theres no doom and gloom about them being through to the super 8s (unlike a certain mark nicholas whos gone down in my estimation). I think its good to see.

    My take on this:

    1) If Yesterday's kiwi score is around 230 Irish mindset will be different when they bat.

    2) Both South Africa match and Kiwi matches last 10 overs irish bit tired ??( ), lets not forget the playing cricket in Tropical is far different from playing in Dublin and impressive 100% wins in world cup by kiwi's.

    3) Field set around the batsman by Johnston is very very impressive it creates lot of frustration for regular batsman.

    4) O' Brien brother's are awesome yesterday. :)

    on funnier note
What's stody of Longford Smith & Johnston' dancing steps when they got wicket anyway, as Irish cricket fan do we have learn that??
Neil's "Oh! Fek sake", shout is so funny? :D:D

Overall its good exposure to Irish team because they are encountering one of the finest sides in circketing sides (New zeland, Aussies, South African's).

Was looking that way until the last 3 overs - however, the way the Kiwis bowled we wouldn't have made that.

Fair point - we're also inexperienced at "death bowling" - Trent tries to bowl yorkers but the batsmen are wise to it and 2 steps down the wicket converts it into a full toss.

Agree 100% - the field-settings were quite innovative. A lot of homework from the backroom team went into that, I'd reckon.

Not convinced on this - Kevin batted well, but Niall scratched around for far too long, scoring at 1 every 2 balls when his brother, facing the same bowling, scored at a run a ball.

Trent's is the Chicken, Lanky's is called The Ferret and was invented by himself & his Mrs for the first dance at their wedding, believe it or not!
