Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

This is currently a rumour, but they (at the Official XBox Magazine) are expecting an announcement soon...

Elite to usher in Video Marketplace for Europe?
    05 Apr 2007 5:21pm
    Announcement expected in "weeks"

At a special event held in central London today entitled, The Tour of Truth, Director of Microsoft’s Game Technology Group Scott Henson has stated that there would be ‘synergy’ between the forthcoming release of the new Elite console and the online Video Marketplace service.

And while Microsoft once again declined to comment on the release of the HDMI-enabled Xbox 360 Elite in Europe, clearer details emerged about the company’s strategy going forward.

Full HD movies which are currently only available for download via the US Marketplace, weigh in at roughly 6-7GB, making the new 120GB hard drive of the Elite a potential must-have for movie buffs. So will we see both console and Marketplace extension arrive this side of the pond simultaneously? Michael Newey, Platform Marketing Manager, Xbox Europe stated a full announcement for Europe is "a matter of weeks away".

‘The Tour of Truth’ was a press briefing that intended to highlight the differences between the Xbox 360 and Sony’s PS3. Areas of note included the Xbox 360’s ability to automatically upscale to 1080p on high definition TVs that support it and a comparison between games on both formats, namely Virtua Tennis 3 and Call of Duty 3.

Couple these factors alongside the infrastructure of Xbox Live, a platform that is growing on a daily basis, and it is clear that Microsoft now believe that the next-gen war is on, and they are here to win!

they playstation doesnt have anything like the 360 marketplace yet, and Sony will just be as bad as microsoft when they do have one up and running judging by how they have treated us so far. Anyways your not gonna get new movies or tv shows unless you want the same films you can rent already in xtravision or a new episode of eastenders or an episode of Lost that rte have shown already.

It can be very frustrating for European gamers when we're only an after thought in the eyes of games manufacturers. Despite having the 2nd highest console per capita in the world (behind Japan), we're still consistantly being shafted by later releases, poorer services and more expensive products.

But saying that, the European market is accommodated for more by Microsoft than Playstation. If you recall the launch of the original XBOX, it was released in Europe before Japan, a first for any major console release.
Sony on the other hand, leave us months behind the US and Japan, and when it does arrive it has less functionality and carries a much larger price tag than seen in any other region.

I wouldn't be so quick to judge about XBOX Marketplace, although it might seem unfair that once again we don't recieve the same quality of service, the US is the only region in the world that has access to movies and tv downloads, even their Canadian neighbours don't have access. From Microsofts perspective, when they only have the resources to open this service to one region, the obvious choice is the US.

And whenever a game has a top score its always the Americans that are there due to getting the game months ago!

Its pretty much the same , all you can do on xbox live is download demos trailers and old arcade games on ps3 you can only down load demo's trailers and old games (teken 5 ,lemmings ) . Only difference is sony dont charge you to play online like xbox do .

Well all i want is south park you can download seasons 1 to 11 now on US xbox market place . Since my laptop was stolen downloading anythign has gone out the window .

Yeah but AFAIK we (Eurpoe) are the largest gameing market in the world. Yet we are constantly being left out in the cold when in comes to new games and gear, thought admittadly thing are getting better for us.
