Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    various places

you CAN'T buy OEM for an existing machine ( unless you upgrade the mother board )

If you upgrade an OEM version of windows then the new XP license is bound to the machine and can't be moved.

here are prices on http://www.micromail.ie - there are many other resellers like http://www.komplett.ie - but this is to show the different options. ( first price is w/o vat - second with VAT)

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Upgrade with SP2 (For Users of Windows 98/Me Only) €119.00 €143.99

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition with SP2 (For PCs Without Windows 98/Me/NT 4 or 2000) €249.00 €301.29

Microsoft Windows XP Professional Upgrade with SP2 (For PCs with Windows 98/Me/NT 4/2000 Only) €229.00 €277.09

Microsoft Windows XP Professional with SP2 (For PCs Without Windows 98/Me/NT 4 or 2000) €359.00 €434.39
(compare the price to the cheapest entry level barebones PC with windows pre-installed ! )

    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=327649
Microsoft Windows XP Home SP2b English OEM - € 98.00
The product can now be bought seperately (not together with hardware) if it is used in your own assembled PC
This doesn't mean you can put it on an existing PC. ( unless you replace the motherboard)

IIRC you need to buy 5 licenses before you can become a volume customer - but you can mix Windows and Office to get the 5.

If you are a full time student from a place microsoft recognises you may be able to the the academic version.

You can buy XP OEM and if your conscience pricks you, buy a cable or mouse along with it to salve your conscience.
This will save you lots of money and also put money into Microsoft's coffers.

    Everybody is happy then.
    You save, Microsoft get money.
