Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

9-10 arrests, looks like the Police stepped in and have things under control.

I dunno. Sky news is hyping it big time at the moment, but I mean its just another series of scuffles at another soccer match. I would hate to see a penalty for this. All the websites are reporting that the scuffles mostly involved roma fans rather than Utd. fans.
I wonder will this have an effect on the match.

Brother just got into OT, said he had two close calls on way in with Roma fans. Said its al a bit mental around the ground.

I've heard elsewhere that ManYoo's firm are waiting until after the game for a pop at Roma. That's just a rumour, don't have a go at me for posting it.

Well obviously it couldnt have just involved Roma fans unless they were having a go at each other.

Hope there is no more violence. If there is more it will more than likely be outside the ground after the game. The police should keep the Roma fans behind after the game ends.

    Well yeah.
If we lose, we'll kick the **** out of them.
    If we win...
We'll really kick the **** out of them!

Initially Sky were hyping it a little but they seem to be offering a little more rstraint now. Their reporter pulled it back a bit and said that batons weren't used by the police and that compared to Roma it was nothing. Fingers crossed it will go easily.

I saw Newcastle V Charlton in St. James a while ago and the police basically made a human corridor from the stadium to the train station and coach depot trafficing the Charlton fans away. The problem with tonights match is that the fans, including any bad element, will be mingling in the centre of the city in all the bars and clubs until 3am. Add onto that any eejits who follow united and want retribution for Roma and it could go worng. I pray not.

Charlton had enough fans to need that?

Took 51 to Boro last season...;)

Well I heard on sky that most of the Roma fans are going home from Manchester airport tonight on chartered flights after the match so I can't see this elevating too much after the game if the police are sensible and hold the Roma fans in for a while after the game and then escort them back to the transport hubs/city centre.

Wouldn't bet against it. Having seen a fair few incidents outside OT after games, the "Red Army" will be itching for a go at the Roma ultras.

OMG! Is that true? There was about 1500/1000 in St. James. A loud bunch too!

If Boro's own match programme is to be believed. They list visitor numbers (or used to) on the back page, Charlton visited Boro @ 3pm on an August Saturday and brought a coach load.

They don't even travel to Spurs.

Was the Barcodes game the one that the board shelled out for free coaches?

That's clearly a Roma fan. Look at the accessories. The scarf and the glasses?
A manc wouldn't pull off a stylish combination like that.
    :)

I think anyone who wanted a piece would have been out from before 6.

Maybe what looks like a Man U landslide will mean some/a lot of locals will stay in the pub after the game instead of roaming the streets......

The clip is on Sky News and it shows the bloke in the picture attacking a cameraman with a baton. The scumbag then walked off in to what looked like a crowd of locals. That and the fact that he's wearing what looks like a navy Burberry scraf would make it unlikely it's an Italian. They've taste and the glasses look awful....
