Going to be building patio right up to the house. Going to be using decorative stones for patio area. It will be to a depth of about 2inches - this is going to be right up to the house wall !! Will this affect dampness?

You will have to slope them away from the house, a slight fall would do, as long as their not sloping towards the house you shouldnt have any problems.
