Don Henley's Boys of Summer is what popped into my head first. :) You could also try Tears for Fears' Everybody wants to rule the World

Boys of Summer is perfect cheesy driving music! Eagles, Lynard Skynard, Steely Dan, Steve Earle, Creedence etc. are also worth a listen.

Queens of the Stone Age - Go with the flow. Put on repeat. Wear sunglasses. Drive fast. Roll down the windows.

Pretty much anything from the GTA series, Vice City and San Andreas in particular - made for driving

You can get track lists on amazon, or probably loads of places on the net.

I always found a lot of the tracks from OK Computer by Radiohead to be kinda summery. Airbag, Homesick Alien, Lucky and The Tourist. Try those.

Also Slight Return by The Bluetones and Up On The Downside by Ocean Colour Scene come to mind.

Journey, Boston, REO Speedwagon, Heart all the cheesy 80's power ballad style songs.

The song 'Crash', by The Primitives. This song was on the Dumb & Dumber soundtrack. The Primitives have other summery-type songs too such as Thru' the Flowers and Spacehead.

Agreed, have the soundtrack. Plenty of 80's cheese. :)

Yes-Owner of a Lonely Heart, Frankie Goes to Hollywood-Two Tribes and Jan Hammer-Crockett's Theme to name a few.

just to sort of get away from the rock have a go of "junkie xl - today" (it's not as mad as the artist name suggests!)

I personally prefer some laidback music in the heat and whenever I am driving, so some soul like Jill Scott or Erykah Badu or dance like the last Tracy Thorn,The Gossip and Dub Pistols albums.

My personal preferences don't usually chime with others though. ;)

There is only one song for a sunny summer drive (played on a 3 hour loop):

    La Ritournelle by Sebastien Tellier

Here is a sample of the original in all it's (low bit rate) glory

Here's a sample of a remix that gives you a flavour of the lyrics
