    Louis Vuitton rips off Lindsay-J & Sneak-Thief
LABEL WIN IN VUITTON TRACK ROW

A TINY record company have won a legal battle against one of the world's largest fashion houses.

Bosses of Mighty Robot took on the Louis Vuitton group after they pinched one of their tunes.

The Glasgow label forced the top design house to fork out compensation for using their music to promote their spring collections around the globe.

Celine, part of the Vuitton group, sent their models down the catwalk to Open The Door by Lindsay-J & Sneak Thief.

They also used the music on their websites without asking the Scots label's permission.

But the Paris design house were faced to pull the track and pay up after the Scots found out about the scam.

David Bowie, 35, of Mighty Robot, said: "We were stunned to learn that an extensive sample from one of our tracks was being used on the Celine website to promote the spring collection.

"We were slightly annoyed about it because it was completely unauthorised and they had not asked to use that piece.

"If they had come to us for the track and then put it on their website or said who had produced the music, that would have been different, but they just ripped it off and stuck it up there."

Open The Door was used at catwalk shows which were filmed and viewed around the globe on the Vogue and Elle websites.

Using a sample without permission is a copyright violation and Mighty Robot sued to protect their tune, which was remixed by Dave "Truffle Club" Clark.

Celine were forced to pull the track from their official website, and make an undisclosed settlement for prior use of the sample as part of an out of court settlement.

No one at Celine was available for comment.
