Nuvi - without the extras

    Hi all,

I'm looking for a satnav for France, Ireland and UK. Been to Halfords and reviewed several sites including boards.ie

Garmin seem to be a reliable brand alright, however they are expensive I feel. This is probably due to all the extras, mp3, bluetooth, hands free dialing etc.

Do you know if any of the nuvis can be got without the extras?

If not, I presume I should just go for the Airis T920. Am I right?

There are a few versions of the Nuvi (14 models in all). Some of them have the extra bells and whistles, and some of them don't. Then there's a few varieties of the StreetPilots.

    Have a look here: https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=134
Select a couple of versions and do a comparison. Then check out prices on the various sites. Halfords will not have as large a range of GPS devices as the electronics websites. A selection of sites:
    1) GPSW.co.uk
    2) Expansys.ie
    3) Komplett.ie
    4) eBay.ie
    5) Pixmania.ie
I'm sure others will have additional recommendations.

    I looked at all 14. Everyone has a mp3 player. I already have a mp3 player!!

    Any other suggestions?

I wouldn't worry too much about the mp3 player. I wouldn't imagine it adds anything to the cost of the unit, as the functionality is predominantly handled in software (plus whatever storage space you have on the SD cards), so they're only making use of the hardware that already exists, to create added 'extras'.

But if you're really mp3 player adverse, you could look at some of the early street-pilots, which definitely don't have a built-in mp3 player.

Oh, and some of the Nuvi's don't have mp3 players, like the 200, 250, and 270.

The Aris920 does not have European coverage - European maps are extra.

    Have a look here... http://www.mysatnav.ie

The "Chicage 660" seems like your cheapest option @ €309

My recomendation is the Nuvi 660 @ €569
It really is worth the extra money and you will never regret it.

I'm also considering a Garmin Nuvi. the 250, 300 and 310 look interesting. time for me to do some research...;)

    We're all in this psy-op together.🤨
