Just got banned from Christianity forum

Yeah, I hope where I am coming from now is a bit cleared. I wanted to debate some of the tougher questions in Christianity, and I got banned. It brings back memories of just being told to shut up or belief. Its ironic we can have a better debate / discussion about Christian scripture in the atheist forum. I would like to thank the moderators of this forum for letting that discussion take place and all those who contributed.

I admit that I can see where they're coming from - we are intervening rather a lot at the moment. There's not many threads that don't get some sort of atheist post challenging the interpretation of the Bible, or pointing out where Scripture contradicts itself.

yeah but you're challenging points of discussion re bible etc not challenging their entire belief system, I don;t know how that can't see the difference and I think the example above where beruthail chastised tim robbins was way over sensitive robbins was following the line of discusion.

I hope that not what he was banned for.

Just to let all know, Tim wasn't banned from the Christianity forum, just threatened with it.

As the moderator and being in an impatient mood yesterday, due to lack of sleep, I threatened TR because I felt that he just out and out attacked my God and my Saviour. On a normal day, it wouldn't have bothered me at all.

But he wasn't banned.

So, after keeping track of this very interesting thread all day, now we find out it was all started off of a false premise. What's the protocol here? Should we now forget all that was discussed and pretend it never happened?

I think deadman, that this discussion happened and learn from it.

The banning never happened, so the lesson to be learned is PM the mod and be certain of your status. If you're not sure why ask.

As was already mentioned, we enjoy a lively debate and we're (okay I'll change that to 'I am') passionate about the truth. You've posted before about us being "unsure" of our beliefs, and that's why we question others'..... It just doesn't make sense. If I were unsure about my beliefs, I would not be engaging in debate with others on a public forum, where my beliefs might be disproven!!! I would circumvent, avoid, and dodge discussion about my beliefs, by trying to make it a bannable offense to question them.... hey wait a minute! That sounds a bit familiar ¬_¬

Well I've posted in the Islam forum on occassion, and put strong questions to them about their beliefs. eg. here. The 2 systems of belief share some aspects and differ on others. Unfortunately I'm not too educated on Islam, and amn't very familiar with the life of Muhammed (despite studying it in college ) nor the Quran. It's also not as prevalent in Irish society (although that's changing), so it's not really as problematic (eg. 90%+ of schools in the country are Catholic, probably less than 1% are Muslim!).

I think you're barking up the wrong tree and trying to psychoanalyse us too much. In my experience, the vast majority of atheists aren't atheists because they got buggered by the priest when they were altar boys, as you seem to be suggesting.

Christianity is merely the prevalent religion for most of us, and we don't know enough about Islam to attack it with the same ferocity.

I've studied Christianity consistently since when I was old enough to read, until I was 17. I'm quite familiar with the belief system, and the silly stories in it. I'm not familiar with Islam to the same extent, and am not really motivated or bothered enough to read much about it beyond wikipedia........

Hmmm, since TimR wasn't actually banned, this whole kafuffle is kind of moot.

Perhaps best to leave it be, as there's now another thread dealing with the bigger "issue".

Eh - no. I am banned, I go to access the Christianity Forum and I am told I am not allowed access it. It has been like this since last night around, 11.00 pm.

Seriously, I hope the probem gets sorted, whatever it is. People debating the correct interpretation of a parable of Jesus on an atheist and agnostic forum is just too weird.
