Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Five Eircom League of Ireland clubs have been awarded UEFA licences by the Football Association of Ireland’s First Instance Committee. Derry City will be entered in the Champions League with St Patrick’s Athletic and Drogheda United participating in the UEFA Cup and Cork City in the Inter Toto Cup. UCD will take part in the UEFA Cup should Ireland be awarded a place via UEFA's Fair Play table.

Following the decision of Shelbourne not to apply for a UEFA licence, Derry qualified for the Champions League as runner-up in the 2006 Eircom League of Ireland Premier Division. St Patrick’s Athletic, who lost the FAI Cup Final to Derry City , thus qualified for the UEFA Cup.

Because United Park and Belfield Park are not up to the standard required to host UEFA club games, the First Instance Committee ordered that both Drogheda United and UCD play their home legs at a suitable UEFA licensed venue.

The First Instance Committee also reviewed the domestic licences awarded in December 2006 and the FAI’s Licensing Department will be in contact with the clubs in the coming days to inform what, if any, sanctions have been imposed.

St Pats new owner Garret Kelleher has announced ambitious plans to expand their Richmond Park Stadium; “We want Richmond Park to be the number one ground in the league boasting some of the best amenities. We are a growing club and need a larger stadium to cater for our growing support base and provide better match day facilities for our patrons to enjoy.

The blueprint includes purchasing the current East stand from the now defunct Lansdowne road and transporting it 4 miles to Richmond Park where it will replace the current Camac Terracing. The interior will be renovated to include new shops, bars and office facilities as well as dormitories for the youth academy which will be built in phase 2.

The ambitious plan would involve removing the current stand from its current location and rebuilding it on a new foundation and with up to date support structures. “Now we are staying in Richmond I want a stadium we can be proud of, this is only the first phase in a process which will hopefully see the club one day host European Cup Finals, and who knows, we could even get to play in them one day”.

The refurbished stand will hold 18,000 spectators and will house 120 youth students and office facilities for 30 people, commercial shops and a gym which will be open to the community “St Pats are a community club and we want the community using our facilities, I believe we can be the fulcrum for a successful Inchicore”
