    if i buy a hd ready lcd tv in newry will it work okay in the the republic, just wondering if they have different bandwidths, cheers..

    All depends on what system you're using to receive your stations ie Sky/NTL/Chorus/ off air. For NTL and Chorus cable systems the TV will need to have a tuner that covers the VHF band as well as the UHF band. That relates to an analogue tuner.
    Alot of these new LCDs sold within the UK and up North may only have a digital tuner for free to air digital. Something we don't have yet(apart from the DTT tests) so for the moment a digital tuner is useless but may be useful at some stage down the road.
    If you just have Sky well that works on any TV once if has a scart socket.(not tuner dependent)
    Do you have any model numbers of LCDs you're looking at and any links to them?
