Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I need to find a dress for a ball. I'm not quite sure of the style most people will be wearing but it doesn't look overly formal. I have absolutely no money for this at all so wouldn't mind a 2nd hand dress or something? Any tips on what to wear for it and where I might find something suitable for cheap?

TK Maxx and Ebay are your best bets...

TK Max usually do very nice dresses for dirt cheap, we're talking less than €100 year.

All the ones in TK Maxx that I've seen have been utterly horrific and would not wish that tackiness upon anyone! Ebay isn't really an option either as I'd rather try it on beforehand as if it doesn't fit I'll have no way to get another one and can't afford to have it altered.

I got a great dress in Dunnes Stores - Savida range. It is beautiful. Strapless satin in a coffee colour and a cream sash - 40 eurons - you can't go wrong.

a-wear, topshop, oasis and the like. You might find something in there.
Pennys usually have great skirts - team it with a nice top?

I was in New Look in Liffey Valley last night and they had some really cute dresses. I think they were about 40 bucks?

You can rent dresses in a place off suffux street Ill try and find out the name, and in Jenny Vander behind georges street arcade. The Jenny Vander renting collection has some beautiful vintage dress 20s/30s/40s and 50s.

I had the most amazing luck today. My dentist appointment got severely delayed so I was wandering around the shops. In Debenhams in Blackrock I found a dress in Warehouse reduced from €140 to €14! A few sequins had fallen off but I prefer it without them and since they're only sewn on to the mesh at the front so they can easily be removed. I'll be adding a sash at the waist and maybe some really decorative flowers or something to jazz it up a little. Nothing like customising to make you feel good. One of a kind dress.
