'halves' is a pretty new group, but most members have been playing for
about a decade in dublin (former bands include 'skylight' and 'oakroom').
we decided to try something different and 'halves' is the result. heres the
press blurb, we hope the gig will be something worth seeing:

Already creating a stir with their unique live show, Halves are a
distinctive new Dublin-based group. Fronted by four talented
multi-instrumentalists, Halves' rich and idiosyncratic sound crosses
genre, challenging convention as guitar meets accordion, violin meets
melodica. Diverse and truly novel, Halves blend a range of instruments
    – the glockenspiel one moment, the piano the next – over guitar crescendos,
haunting strings and both acoustic and electronic drums.

Members Brian Cash, Elis Czerniak, Tim Czerniak and Dave Scanlon run their
live show on the adrenaline of improvisation, as layers are made and
sampled on the fly. This is all complemented by live projection from visuals
    duo "slipdraft"

Halves are exceptional on the Irish scene. Broadly influenced, Halves
craft intense, deeply resonant sound-scapes. Delicate classical motifs
expand over electronic distortions while ambient drums and bass create
depth and immediacy. Theirs is a rich, multi-layered sound, ambitious,
    lush and cinematic.

Their eponymously titled EP will be available on May 11th from Tower
Records, Road records, and online from www.ahomeforhalves.com

    Gigs:
Tower records - Saturday May 12th, (Instore 2pm)

    Thank you very much.
Yes Jim Carroll (amongst other Phantom people) has been saying some very nice things about us. And Edel very kindly had us on AAA last Tuesday.
So thanks a lot to them.

In other news, we've the rather excellent Pia Henoch accompanying us on cello for these gigs.

EP and website both launched today (www.ahomeforhalves.com)

    Some reviews are in

Irish Times - "Halves go the whole 9.675 yards on this lavishly packaged and lush-sounding debut ep, going from ambient soundscapes to all-out aural assault....."

Irish Independent - "Very interesting new Irish band worth checking out"
