    Hi,
I'm just wondering if the braelights at the back of the car should come on if the car is parked, engine running and handbrake on? The lights work when the foot brake is pressed but I'm just wondering should any light come on when the handbrake is on, and the engine running?

    Thanks...

the only light that should come on when the handbrake is applied is the little red (!) one in your dashboard

If your foot is not pressing the brake pedal then it sounds like a faulty brake light switch - an age old problem with some VW models - if it's under warranty the dealer should sort it out.

god is so annoying in traffic when the guy in front of you has his foot on the brake, its nearly as bad as rear fogs

If you're not moving then you don't have to look at his brake lights. Rear fogs don't allow us this luxury.
