The B-side to that single is just as good, "The Ballad of Robert Moore and Betty Coltrane". One of my favourite Cave songs (and that's saying something).

Some people have great taste. Tis a cracker of a song.

What kind of stories are you looking for?

Dylan has many many songs like this. Gram Parsons too. Generally country music as stated above.

it doesn't make much sense but its great nonetheless.

I was gonna suggest "Camouflage" by Stan Ridgway (the best ever song with a story that there has ever been....EVER!!!) well at least that's what I thought when I was a kid.

Another great song with a story is "Up The Junction" by Squeez.

I actually can't think of any songs from the 90's with particularly good stories. I don't normally listen to lyrics, more of a melody man tbh.

I'd have to give that award to Burma Shave by Tom Waits:)

    These are all great aswell,
    Daddy by Korn
Slow Motion by Third Eye Blind
    Cocaine Blues by Johnny Cash
A Boy Named Sue by Johnny Cash
    Karma Hotel by The Spooks
