Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yeah, its hard to believe Alan Ball has passed away.
He was only 61 and will be fondly remembered by many in the sport.
I had a lot of time for him.

He was of course an Everton legend as well.

His character and passion would have made him a legend at any club he played for or managed.

Sad news indeed. Was reading the story about his death on the BBC website and came across a story about him having to sell his WC66 Winners Medal a couple of years ago in order to provide financial security to his family. It's a sad state of affairs when someone that has given so much to the game has to do something like that.

    Anyway. RIP AB

Indeed. Arsenal in particular don't do a great deal for their former players. I'm going to be at the Emirates on Sunday, I expect the board to have a suitable tribute organised.

    From BBC 606:
A friend of mine was ill with Cancer and his wife bumped in to Bally in Southampton and told him that her husband was having a 50th birthday party and as a lifelong saints fan it would lift his spirits if bally could pop by. Not only did Alan pop by - he spent the whole evening and then took the time to stay in touch until my friend beat his cancer. That is the mark of the man. a true, true legend.

Aye, it puts the wages currently paid for some footballers in perspective.
