    hi

maybe someone can help me with this please?

I read somewhere that on a web site if you have a links page, it is much better for SEO and for serach engines to pick up links if you have..

    instead of (as an example)

Visit The Best Irish Discussion Forum: http://www.boards.ie

you have it so the words The Best Irish Discussion Forum are on the links page, and with the hyperlink hidden under the words, so when you click the words, you are linked to the web site.

Visit The Best Irish Discussion Forum

Is it true that using this method of posting links to your site, is a much better way of getting up search engines rankings?

    Thanks

    G

Short answer is yes. Long answer is that you'll want to tailor your linked phrases so that they'll be the sort of thing that people will search for via Google. Just be careful how you do this though - put the user first and search engine second. Otherwise it is, essentially, spam.

    Thanks Laslo:

so the idea would be to focus in on key word that would be popular.

for example a Martial Arts School in Dublin if linked from various since
    might put for example

    Martial Arts School Dublin

    Self Defence Dublin Ireland

Irish School of Martial Arts Self Defence etc etc

Do the serach engines automatically pick up on these sort of links after they have been put on a links page after a few weeks/months etc..

    Thanks again

Never mind the links. If the site they are pointing to isn't seo friendly it won't help you too much
