Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Seriously thinking of..in fact nearly certain that I will do this course..partially because I'm trying to learn how to wear make up myself..and partially well because I've always loved being in the beauticans...and well think I might like Beauty as a career...certainly I'd like to try and a night course for E750 seems rather low risk!..A lot of women have told me that they would not like a man to apply their make up..how do women here feel? There could potentially be a T-V/T-S market also? Quite underdeveloped and a bit underground in Limerick... Is it a difficult trade to learn? Any beauticans here?
    Thanks Alan

    hi alan,
i myself am a teacher of beauty therapy. Just to warn you alot of people do the course because they like make up or nails, although most of what they do in salons is tan make up and nails, this only makes up 5-10% of the syllabus. this leads to alot of disillusioned students and drop outs
The anatomy and physiology is quiet intense, its to the same standard as first year medicine, exams are weekly and you need over 60% to pass. it takes alot of dedication and interest. If you would just like to do make up artistry you could just do a course in that and follow on with courses in nails ect.
I have never come across a male beautician, alot of men just do make up or massage courses, remember waxing is part of the course and i dont know if many women would like a man to wax their bikini lines ect !!!!!!
But if it is what your interested go for it, its a rewarding career and can take you anywhere in the world.

Hi Leizi (apologies if misspelt!)...is it Foxhall or Pembrooke then that you work at ? Are you familiar with Limerick Senior? I have a distinct feeling that the TV-TS scene in Limerick is underserved...and most men apply make up badly..because we don't have the years of practice and peer assistance that most women have!...Maybe they would feel secure being assisted by a man?

i was teaching in cork for the last year, have worked with pembroke and went there myself, all the courses offer the same qualifications, ITEC, CIBTAC and CIDESCO so whichever one you do you will come out with the same diplomas at the end of the day. Pembroke graduates have a good reputation with employers
the only thing about LSC is that the day course is two years long, while pembroke and foxhall are one year.
Im sure there is a market for it and they say men make the best make up artists. some of the most famous make up artists in the world are male

Hi Leizi..I was actually thinking of the night course at Limerick Senior. Did you ever work in Bellisimo by any chance? Have dark hair? My background is actually in teaching..but as I've advanced in years a little ..I feel that teaching dosen't fulfill all my dreams...a great career but I'd like a little more
    Thanks
    Alan
