    Hi all,

I have just switched to Irish Broadband 2meg. Great service.
I bought a NetGear Wireless Router from them.

only problem is i cannot set this up wirelessly for my laptop. i still have to plug the Ethernet wire in to access the net.

Can anyone help me in this matter as i am totally dumb......

    Cheers.

Can you not just connect the ethernet cable to the wifi router and then connect to that wirelessly?

did you check the manual as to howto setup wireless?

point your web browser to the internal IP address of the netgear, usually http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.1.254.

enter username and password to access the configuation page. look for wireless tab up the top and ensure wifi is enabled. turn off all security at first. ensure that wifi is turned on, on your laptop (usually turned on by function key+F? button or a physical switch on the side). check for wireless networks in the wifi utility. when you get connected, turn on WEP or WPA security to stop freeloaders robbing your broadband.

if you are REALLY REALLY stuck, I can take over your laptop remotely and probably configure it for you.
