Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Two very tough matches for Chelsea & Man Utd after being in action in midweek - I wouldn't be surprised if one or both slipped up.

My bets this week are AZ Alkmaar, Chelsea, Sunderland and Milan to win. The milan one is probably the dodgiest, away from home with a largely rested squad, but torino are missing one of their main defenders and of course ronaldo will be playing. Torino's last 4 results are a draw and 3 losses.

Also have a fiver on draws in the blackburn and sheffield games - about 60quid back!

I reckon Chelsea are just as likely to drop points this weekend as Utd (if not more so). They had a much more physical affair, and seemed to flag a bit midweek against what wasn't a great Liverpool performance.

nervous? i have been nervous since day 1 of the season. It great to see that alot are predicting a bad result for united today!!

personally, as long as we match wat ever result chelsea get today, ill be happy, so in other words, i wont be complaining if the gap is still 3 points tonight. i think that we will beat city next week and arsenal will get a point off chelsea, but again, as long as the gap is 3 or more going to stamford bridge, then we are ok. its in our own hands if its like that.

Johnson is out, so that's a huge boost for United.

    Either way, huge huge day:

    1st vs. 5th
    2nd vs. 6th

I think Bolton will score a goal today so Chelsea will prob need to score two to win.
I'm hopeful United will outclass Everton by playing good football and not get dragged down to Evertons level.
    Both games live on Sky

Why do you think that? Bolton have only scored once against them in the last 4 matches between the sides. And that was a 5-1 defeat.

Fair enough, they may get a goal but recent history would suggest they won't.

He's obviously doing something right. :)

What price Kalou for a hat-trick here?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,080 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

i doubt Kalou wil be credited with the second, it was saved on the line, hit the crossbar, came back out, hit the keeper on the back of the leg and then went back in so probably Jaaskalinan OG.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,818 ✭✭✭Bateman

Similar to Ronaldo's in midweek. I think Kalou will get it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 27,857 ✭✭✭✭Dave!

Ronaldo to come on at half-time please.

    Yeah, think that's a certainty!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,818 ✭✭✭Bateman

Jose didn't wait, obviously thought Bolton looked easily stretched and brought Lampard on to use the space in the middle that Bolton just look like they can't cover. Ronaldo might have come on earlier? If he's injured enough to make every minute a gamble, then fair enough, and maybe every minute he spends on the pitch at Goodison is more and more of a risk of him making the next game. Facinating stuff, because United could really do with him here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,288 ✭✭✭✭ntlbell

Just tuned in, very suprised ronaldo didn't start today.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,604 ✭✭✭herbieflowers

two goals for United in the second half is a big ask...Fergie's hairdryer will have to be on top form - as well as the players if they're to turn this around! Although what a crappy goal from Everton...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,800 ✭✭✭county

panic is setting in,utd have had a lot of the ball but dont look like scoring

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 27,857 ✭✭✭✭Dave!

I don't think 2 goals is much to ask TBH... We are playing better than them, they're defending alot since the goal. We've had 2 or 3 decent chances too (Smith shoulda finished his one). I'd say Ronaldo will make all the difference.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,080 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

its a dodgy one alright, could go either way, but the difference for me is that after ronaldo hit his it was always going in, the touches were attempts to get it out but failed, while today the ball was actually saved, on its way back out and then knocked back in by bolton.

Personally i think whoever has the last touch for the attacking team should probably always get the goal since it was their intention to go for goal, so whatever happens between their shot and the goal, they had the ambition to go for it so caused whatever eventually led to the goal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

Ronnie should come on for Smith, he's been pretty awful, really messing up the link up play.
2 goals is defo doable, let's hope they come out all guns blazing.

Carvalho went off injured so Lamps had to come on. doubt he'd have come on otherwise. Thats a worry for Tuesday, took a knock to his knee and looked in a bit of pain, went straight over to Jose.

I wish Richardson would sit down and stop being silly........ Ronaldo's coming on, not you!!!!! .......... *nervous laughter*
