Next free speed upgrade when?

Was it about this time last year connection speeds incresed by 1Mb? Any sign of the next upgrade or whats the time scale for ramping up to 6Mb or more as the typical connection speed. Most folk are still at 2 or 3Mb as far as I can see.

Not very likely antime soon. The lines are creaking at the current speeds and wouldn't take any more. A move to ADSL2+ would improve things but there's not much sign of that either.
The last round of increases were more a reaction to Smart than a desire to give people a faster connection.
