Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Jim Beglin's right, this should be over! How do Milan have so much space? Fergie swap Ronaldo and Giggs onto their natural sides and bring Evra on as a more threatening full back...

    Evra is suspended aint he?

Yep. Milan a different class at the mo. Kaka + Pirlo + Gattusso running the show. Still time for Manu, but they need something before half-time.

No way, how many times have we seen united score goals in the last few minutes?, even in games they were up against it for 80+ mins ?.

It aint over, not by a long shot.

Obviously it is not over yet, but it is pretty funny to see how badly Ronaldo (player of the year and young player of the year - lol  ) is getting owned by Gattuso. Completely useless when it counts.

United are playing like old men not Milan.

Exactly two goals is doable by united.

Absolutely fantastic display from Milan. They have shown great class, skill and attitude. Utd on the other hand look a mess. Is Scholes even on the park ? What about Ronaldo ? None of them have taken the game by the scruff of the neck. Milans passing has been wonderful, some great one touch stuff.

Gattuso is marking Ronaldo out of the game and doing a great job.

Fair play to Anceloti his tactics are spot on. Inzaghi is alot more effective than Gilardino (did he even touch the ball at Old Trafford?). and Gattuso is immense.

But still, the game isnt over. Though it'll be hard for Utd. aslong as Gattuso stays on the pitch, cos we all know the man doesn't tire.

Disappointing first half for United , Milan have been different class. Hopefully we'll see a reaction from United in the second half.

Good to see the ref letting the game flow. last nights ref did the same , someone must have had a word.

United's passing and ball retention is abysmal.

Heinze to blame for the second goal. Schoolboy error playing it back into your own box under pressure.

Milan's midfield is running the show completely, and Gattuso is doing a class job on Ronaldo.

Rooney needs someone up with him, probably Saha, but who to take off?

Fletcher off means Scholes will probably get booked.

Giggs/Ronaldo off means they loose an outlet for creativity.

Interesting second half coming up. Milan will definitely tire, but United just don't look like scoring.

Kaka was quiet for the second part of the first half.

Utd have been very poor so far. absolutely nothing to show in the first half.

i suspect the ol' hairdryer at half time from himself

Game over! Got milan to win on betfair earlier.

    fair play to you

Milan were awesome in the first half. Fergusson really does need to give them a bollocking at half time. They will need to be unreal in the second half.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,638 ✭✭✭Iago

united are more than capable of scoring 2 or 3 goals in the 2nd half, if a few of the players actually start playing.

Take off O'shea, play 4 across the middle with fletcher at right full and put smith and rooney up front. at least then we'll give the milan defence something to think about, rooney has been shocking and while some of it is down to a lack of support he's trying to force passes instead of holding the ball and playing it simply.

That's all milan are doing simple passes and movement off the ball and united look like statues beside them, still have faith if we come out and play the 2nd half though. come on united!

Ronaldo was a total liability in that first half. No tracking back at all which is giving Oddo so much time and space to get forward.

Masterclass from Milan in that first half.

It's only half way through. This can still all change - I just hope if Manchester get back in it's with honour and quality, not by bellyflopping ;)

What exactly is the hair-dryer treatment? Does he just shove it in people's faces or something? Why not go back to hurling boots at people, that worked didnt it?

Milans fatigue will play a big part in this but, Utd. are just as susceptible. Will Vidic last the 90?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,708 ✭✭✭Erin Go Brath

I would be suprised if united didnt seriously up their game in the second half. Milan have a much more competent defensive unit than United imo. United are good going forward, but can they break Milan down???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,371 ✭✭✭✭MisterAnarchy

    Uniteds tactics are all wrong.
    Poor workrate,no tracking back.
The Milan full backs can move up the pitch unchallenged.
    Vidic isnt match fit.
I cant remember the last decent away performance in Europe by United, this performance is symptomatic of their away performances for the last 3-4 years.

From what I see, there is no hunger in MU. No interest from Rooney, Ronaldo and Giggs in doing any of the hard stuff like tracking back.

    Milan have it to loose.

Gattusso really should have a yellow card by now for persistent fouling.

Gattusso really should have a yellow card by now for persistent fouling.
And Ronaldo really should be substituted by now for being a completely ineffectual bottler of the big occassion.

I've watched enough united matches, willing the other team to just hold on, to know that with Man U its never over till its over. I think so long as Milan dont get a 3rd, united could still get through. The last 20minutes will be massive, when milan start to tire and United up the pressure. They seem to have a habit of suddenly realising what they're doing, copping on and putting together quality attacking nigh on unstopable moves. If they get one, i think they'll get a second.

Im still willing on Milan, but the number of chickens hatched is still unknown!

I have noticed that Giggs and Ronaldo seem to be constantly whinging at the ref. Always tells me that players are having a mare.

Rooney denied a good penalty shout and Milan have been gradually penned back over the past ten minutes...

United havent scored in 160 mins at the San Siro now (Since 2005)

AC Milan are giving manu lesson in how keep the ball and close down. Manu midfield looks out of your depth ( Carrick, Flethcer and Giggs ) Giggs be shocking all night.

Uh-oh if Gattuso is injured, very unlucky for Milan. This is how they threw away their lead at OT.

EDIT: So long Utd. Crackin pass by Ambrosini.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 911 ✭✭✭Little-Devil

O'Shea is useless right back. He has being hitting long balls all night.

    Edit: useless full stop.

    What a joke this is.

BOOM!!!!!!! Take your attractive football, your Ronaldos and Rooneys and go home. If you don't get the workrate and the organisation right - you don't deserve to win.

Ronaldo , what an overhyped show pony.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,323 ✭✭✭Savman

United poor tonite, by their own high standards.

In other news, AC Milan were class.

Ronaldo , what an overhyped show pony.

    the great white hype.

*cough* champions league your havin' a...*cough* :p

milan playing ala the first 45 minutes in the final 2 years ago, only they havent took the foot off the pedal...yet.

didnt think milan would be so hungry for it, but they're chasing and hunting down every ball

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,407 ✭✭✭✭LuckyLloyd

Ronaldo. Unbelievable how bad he has been tonight.

    Yip,very true.
    United looked lackadaisical tonight.
If you arent 100% committed at this level ,no amount of skill will overcome the deficit.

its quite funny that man u lose 3 - 0 and all the clueless Dunphyites just go "yeah, its all that dastardly Ronaldo's fault!"

which rag is dunphy writing for nowadays? the mirror, the sun ? whichever it is, go eat it for brekfast before giving uniformed opinions based on an auld cynics point of view.

Utd lost tonight from the midfield and team organisation, not because of their lack of wing play.
Dunphy may say other wise, but hell.. thats maybe why you buy his papers :)
