Hi guys....

I was having a nostalgic discussion at the weekend about some of the late great footballers - the likes of which we havent seen in a long time, or may never see again.

Every fan has memories of their favourite player, whether they be from when they were children and hearing all the legends, or seeing them in action in todays game...But, the current player rarely matches the mythical status of the great players of yester-year.

Why not post a link and show us your favourite player? Ill start the ball rolling with a couple of Scottish legends and a couple of foreginers from when i was growing up. [i dont see anything in the charter about links or anything, i did look...so please correct me and edit this if im wrong].

1) Heralded by Pele himself to be one of the most natural footballers he'd ever seen...loved even by the Celtic fans of the day... the late and great:

3) The Great Dane - said to be one of the best players to ever have played in the Scottish game though sadly could be remembered more for his dismal final season at 'my' team. One of the best controllers of the ball ive ever witnessed.

A 7-1 hammering of Southampton which could have been loads more but Don Revie told the team not to score anymore goals because he was great mates with the Saints manager so Leeds proceded to take the piss out of the Saints team for the rest of the game. How I wish I could have seen that team play in the flesh.

I was at that game....and many more involving the great man! I feel priveleged to have been able to watch him week in, week out. Definetly the best footballer I have seen in my lifetime.

I would have loved to have watched Georgie Best week in, week out. This video always gets me welling up - hard to believe he's gone:(

Scholes really is an amazing player. Will very hard for United to replace him when he does eventually retire.

As for Keane, he was a great player player but is a ****ing scumbag. Both traits were quite evident in those clips.

When you think about the midfield we had then:
Giggs Scholes Keane Beckham. One of the greatest midfield's of all time. We really should have won more European Cups with a midfield like that. Amazing.

whatever you want to call him, he was a true genius, and one that seemed to get better with age.

If he didn't take penalties with his right foot I'd probably think he was left footed.

Couldnt agree more, Ive watched the Juventus match probably 100 times and everytime I watch Keane stick that header in still makes me feel great, I honestly think that his performances against Juve in that game should be shown to every kid playing centre mid.

Should have at least made some more cl finals.

I've been a fan since he first broke into the Barca team around 1998 and he was the natural successor to Guardiola. 'Worst ever' is a bit strong. To be fair almost every flamboyant player has a esimilar personality flaw. Don't think he's worse than say an Anelka. He didn't really fit in at Barca but I think it was because he was too young going there. He'd stroll into almost any (if not any) team for his talent.
