Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Legally, I would say no, that they have no real grounds to arrest or detain the person, or to seize their camera (unless of course he has a reasonable suspicion that you are committing acts of treason).

On the other hand, if someone was involved in the crash, I would say that they have a right to take photos and that anyone who impedes you may be prohibiting you from exercising your rights, in particular your right to a fair trial (if there was a dispute as to liability, dangerous driving etc).

Morally, I would say that gardai have a duty not just to enforce the law, but they also have a duty to maintain the peace, and if a garda asks you not to take pictures of a crash they are merely trying to maintain order and give any persons involved in the crash a modicum of dignity. In that regard it is best to comply with the directions of the gardai.
