Im posting here cause a friend can't get through to his ISP.

Basically he is using a zykel router and it was working fine before his sister started using it. He connectes it using USB. all the lights are and dsl is solid green.

He ran "ipconfig" and it has LA disconnected and LAN 3 which shows IP address, default gateway. Unless he using incorrect password which he is not sure of. Does that sound right? He enabled LAN connection in network connections?

    hopefully someone can help ?

"LAC 3 be the USB connection? and if so enabling the LAN probably causing it not to connect"

If your friend has an ethernet connection why doent he just use it and forgets about USB?

BT Tech Support lines are clear normally up until 6 pm, you might be better calling them before 6pm.

If you are getting and ip address (192.168.1.33) try pinging the router

    "ping 192.168.1.1"

See if you get replies, if you do then try pinging google.com if you dont get a reply try googles ip address if you do get a reply then set the DNS servers manually if you still dont get a reply check if the modem is connected, if you are connected check your firewall settings and make sure they are ok.

To check if you are connected either check the PPP light on the router (or internet) if is on (red for PPP and Green for Internet) then you are.

If you fail to ping the router (192.168.1.1) and you dont want to use ethernet (yellow/red cable) reinstall USB drivers, to do so unplug the modem, go to add and remove programs and look for Zyxel USB Software, click on remove and then reboot. Then run the installation CD and when asked plug the modem in, if it doesnt ask you to do it then when the installation finishes plug it and check if you can ping it now.

    Gud luck!
