What Happens To All The Scrappage Deal Cars?

I know they get scrapped ''hence the name'' but do they all really get put into the big M50 in the sky? Could one buy a one of these cars at a knock down price (circa Top Gear where jezza bought a Vovlo for £1) Colm Mcm i'm looking in your direction:) -VB-

they go to the auction houses, some are crushed, the value has to be kept inflated, other wise the lower orders would be driving around for nothing, now we cannot have that, now can we.

There isn't really a proper scrappage scheme. It's just sales promotions. Most will be given to traders along with batches of cars for nominal amounts and that's the last the main dealers see of them. Most end up in auctions, some get scrapped.
