Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

ROH Goes PPV

ROH announced today that they're going to be doing a series of ppv's, starting off with their show the weekend after next. It will be taped and edited into a 2-hour show to be broadcast on the 1st of July

    Full details here

It's very interesting. I'd imagine that there'll be some new fans looking to watch it, aswell as plenty of current ROH fans who'd want to support this. The price will be between 10 and 15 dollars apparently. They've signed 12 wrestlers to contracts which just means that they can't sign for WWE or TNA during that period, they can still work their other indy shows

In the long run, I can see them having to rely on attracting new fans. I'd say most current ROH fans buy the dvds anyway, so I can't see them constantly paying for a 2-hour ppv when they'll be buying the 3-hour dvd later

The thing about ROH I find is that it's not the sort of thing that would make your average wrestling fan want to watch until they actually take the initiative and watch it themselves. But if they find a way of attracting people to paying for one ppv, I'm sure they'll make a lot of new fans in the process

The ppv's are in America by the way, apparently all but one major ppv provider will be showing them

Sapolsky was on the torch today and he said it was a very low cost deal he cut and that the dvd end of ROH will still be their primary source of income. So it looks to be a no lose situation.

Not sure I am altogther too happy about this. I dont think ROH has enough of a fan base for this, so I have an awful feeling gabe may compromise the ROH ethos, and possibly go more 'sports entertainment' in order to get in some new fans, ergo possibly alienating the current fans.

I hope I am wrong, I really do.

I really doubt Gabe would do that. ROH has practically always aimed to deliver what their fans want. I seriously doubt that they'd gain as many new fans by taking a more sports-entertainment approach as they'd lose from their current fan base if they did that..if you get me

It'll be interesting to see where Aries stands in all this. If he's with TNA then he won't be on any ppvs, and possibly be leaving ROH altogether. But with him being suspended for another 2 months or so, he might just choose to stick with ROH

I dont like Aries anyway, so he would be no loss in my eyes, but Homicide is a potential big loss, as well as there will almost definitely be no more Joe, Shelley, Styles (dont like him much either), or Sabin.

    Interesting re TNA
Pro Wrestling Guerrilla ends agreement with TNA Wrestling
    By Silverback, PWG Staff Writer

Los Angeles, CA - Generally, the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com) news releases have been light-hearted yet informative, however that will not be the case on this occasion. Since our humble beginnings in July 2003, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla has booked employees of TNA Wrestling to appear on our shows, in what can only be considered a successful relationship for all parties involved. Both companies experienced tremendous growth during this time period, admittedly with Pro Wrestling Guerrilla aided infinitely more so by TNA Wrestling than the other way around, and the relationship between the two companies has been affable. On April 24, 2007, TNA Wrestling presented Pro Wrestling Guerrilla with a contract that would prevent TNA Wrestling employees from appearing on DVDs sold through or distributed by any third parties. Because this would include long-time partner Highspots.com, as of May 3, 2007, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla has severed all ties with TNA Wrestling.

Since February 2004, Highspots.com has been a major contributor to the success of Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, by helping us to increase the popularity of our company through Highspots.com production and distribution of our DVDs. Since TNA Wrestling presented us with the contract on April 24, we have considered every possible solution, from opting out of our contract with Highspots.com, self distribution of events featuring TNA Wrestling employees (both of which, to their credit, Highspots.com was agreeable with), to releasing DVDs without the matches of TNA Wrestling employees through Highspots.com. Each solution, except one, was either financially irresponsible, meant higher costs for the fans, or would greatly compromise the quality of Pro Wrestling Guerrilla as a whole. Therefore, we have been forced to end our business relationship indefinitely.

Because of this situation, TNA Wrestling employees Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley will not be appearing at Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's DDT4 Tag Team Title Tournament on May 19 & 20. We at Pro Wrestling Guerrilla would like to apologize to Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin, who along with Frankie Kazarian, were not simply employees, but part of the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla family. We would also like to apologize to Samoa Joe, Low Ki, AJ Styles, and Christopher Daniels, whom we had booked for upcoming Pro Wrestling Guerrilla events. We would also like to thank Homicide, Austin Aries, Petey Williams, and all those previously mentioned for their hard work and professionalism as Pro Wrestling Guerrilla wrestlers.

And most importantly, we would like to apologize to our fans, who have come to enjoy seeing TNA employees both at our live events and on our DVDs. Your appreciation and support gave the TNA employees a chance to wrestle at a level they often time are unable to. We hope you can understand that this was not an easy decision to make, but we did what we feel was best for Pro Wrestling Guerrilla now, and in the future. Later today, we will provide updated information regarding the DDT4 Tag Team Title Tournament, including the last team, more non-tournament matches, and the final DDT4 first round matches!''

Hmm..I can see the TNA guys getting a bit angry about this. Earlier this year TNA stopped paying for their hotels, and now they've cut off a source of income for them. I wouldn't say PWG are the only promotion who TNA have been on to. Fair enough that TNA want to keep their guys, but I don't think it's right given the money that they pay them

As far as I know, Sabin and Shelley are already gone from ROH. I think it was just a short-term thing for them to come back

MCMG was a one match deal with ROH unfortunately. I think this will hinder TNA more than it helps it, as fellas like Kazarian who wont be used on TV that often is loosing alot of money. Im sure he would get alot more on the indies than TNA exclusively. I reckon alot could walk after a few months.

Fozzy, perhaps split this from the main thread - TNA tries to kill indy wrestling maybe!?

I don't know about the indy wrestling but its doing a pretty good job killing itself. Angle versus Sting free on tv last week for example.
