Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

How would I identify the Solicitors involved in Refugee Appeals Tribunal cases heard before James Nicholson prior to March 2006.

    regards

I don't want to discuss the reason.

Any idea how to identify the Solicitors?

Most of them would be represented by the Refugee Legal Service. Otherwise I suspect there are a handful of firms that do these cases on a private basis. I know of no way of identifying who did in an individual case.

I would think that such information would be very hard to come by. Below are a few suggestions, but I think that such information is not available as of right.

    1) if you want to know the solicitor on a specific past case, I think you would have to ask either the applicant or one of the other parties directly involved in the case.

    2) if you want to know the solicitor of a specific current or near future case, for an official purpose (e.g. you act for the Minister and you need to know the applicant's solicitor to serve papers) you could try contacting the RAT directly.

    3) I am not sure whether they are publishing case reports yet, but if they do they might adopt the labour court style (e.g. An applicant [represented by XXX solicitors])

    4) if you want to know generally which solicitors appear under the private pratitioners scheme, you might get this from the Refugee Legal Aid service.

    5) it sounds like you have a particular question re: James Nicholson. If this reason is more than mere curiosity (e.g. you are writing an article about him, you are to appear before him, etc) then you could try contacting some of the solicitors firms and/or barristers who deal with refugee applications. They might be able to assist you if you want to know about him generally as opposed to knowing about a specific case.
