Will be starting a conservatory not large juat about 10'x10' will be joining to the house by 2 walls so only 2 to build.

what i need to know is cavity or solid blocks, depth of foundation, and cement ratio for the foundation mix.it will be a single storey 1st wall will have french doors 2nd wall 3x windows so not to much block work is required it will also have a pitched roof.

Would a timber built one have much of an advantage over using block?

    Any input would be great,

    Cheers mitch

You might get a bit of advice here but you really should get someone to draw a plan of it that your builder can work to. I dont understand what you mean by only having to build 2 walls.

In my opinion you're better building the first 3 row of blocks above floor level in cavity wall construction. Go with a mixture of glazing and cavity piers which will provide better support for a slate/tiled roof. Timber construction wont last as long as the blocks and mortar imo.

Do you need planning for it?

Thanks for that. What i mean by 2 walls is that i am joining to the origanl 2 walls of the house so I only have to build 2 remaing walls.

As for planning permission the answer is no its only about 10'x10' and its at the rear of the house
