Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Nokia E61i vs HTC P3300

I thinking of buying either a Nokia E61i or a HTC P3300(aka XDA Orbit) sim free and was just wondering if anyone has either and what do they think of it? They are both similarly priced at the moment with the P3300 a little more expensive than the E61i but thats probably because the P3300 has GPS built in. I wouldn't have much use for it though as I don't drive and I know my way around Ireland pretty well considering I've lived here all my life ;)

They both also have generally good reviews anywhere I've looked and and they both have appealing form factors, ahhh what to do

For me it would be he P3300 all the way. It looks better and I the fact I think Windows Mobile is better than Symbian pushes it.
If you want something similar in form factor to the E61 (i.e. SmartPhone not PDA) I'd recommend the HTC S620, or wait a while and get a HTC Cavalier or S710 (Vox).

The lack of a keyboard in the htc would be a killer for me.

For me it would be the E61i.

I had a look at the orbit in the O2 shop on Grafton street. Yes its nice... but be aware that you can't really use it single handed. So if you need to do anything much on the move forget it. Thats not really the phones fault... its Microsofts for not having everything navigable without the need for a stylus.

@GUIGuy - it's got a mouse! You can control it with the track ball and don't have to use the stylus if you don't want to! This makes it one-handed!

Any release date on the e61i yet?

I'm very tempted by the blackberry curve which just became available on o2 uk.

E61i has been available since February but it appears none of the Irish mobile phone providers are carrying it, only the older E61. It can still be bought sim free from the likes of expansys

Knew that, I assume o2/vodafone will pick it up at some stage though.

@ciaranfo I'm well aware its got a "mouse"... but try using that rollerball when on the move... its ok when stationary but when moving its not the best. Also maybe it was just how they had it configured in the O2 shop but the cursor only appeared in IE... so not much use. Specifically there was no way to create an sms without using the stylus.

The reason is again not really the O2s fault but Microsofts. There is a seaparate inbox for each mail type. When you use a soft key to create a new message it will automatically create one based on which inbox is current. But you can't even see let alone choose from the list without using the stylus.

If it was just a config issue and the cursor can be seen in all apps then maybe it would be worth revisiting to see if the sensitivity can be adjusted.
