NOTE: Im probably after doing a few things wrong that you might not like so bare with me :)

So I went at some overclocking last night and I managed to get this..

Temps were idling at around 35 - 40(Ive had the pc on about two days prior to this.. when I 1st turned it on I was getting temps of 28 - 32.

    overclock-1.jpg

If them temps are too high its probably because I didnt apply the artic silver enough.. Ill let you decide on that!

Also in bios it only lets me change the Rated FSB and not the Bus speed.. In all guides ive seen there changing the bus speed? Normal?

I hope it looks ok anyway and I got no warnings or errors from ORTHOS

you have a gts he has a gtx. I doubt your gonna be able to better his score. unless you introduce ln2 into the equation.

WELL BY the stepping you have an idea if its a good or bad chip because previces records of people who have allready overclocked with the chips.

see here is some amd optys records :http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=96900

Just a question.. What will happen when I up the fsb to the max before upping the voltage? Windows wont boot or it will become unstable?

Either really, it can become unstabe or it wont boot.

This is not right at all.. It could be one of 2 things I think...

I had it going all day in my room when there was no window open and the radiators were on(didnt know was asleep)

Or ive not put the thermal paste on right..?

Im using zalman 9500 so I suspect it should stay lower?

    overclock2.jpg

Still got no errors or warnings from ORTHOS

as we said the 9500 is a pritty crap cooler.

but try reaplying the paste again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,728 ✭✭✭dazftw

It cant be that crap though like?

Yea im guessing its the paste! Ill sort that out maybe in the morning ive work in half hour!

If the paste doesnt fix it.. I consider getting a different cooler.

Temps are idling now at 40C(how do you get a degrees sign?)

Check out the artic silvers site for a guide on apply paste to a dual core intel cpu. Took a few degree's off my temp when I followed it.

I get much the same temp as you but my e6600 is at 3.2 ghz and 1.55 vcore. (scythe ninja cooler)

cool 3ghz whats ur stepping ?

bet ya its a "G" for 3.0 on stock V

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,401 ✭✭✭✭Anti

pretty impressive for stock voltage. Dont forget with the new therman comound on you should give it a few days to settle "bake in" before you really start pushing it.
