You also gotta love shows like 'Happy Days', 'Mork & Mindy', 'Married... With Children' and '3rd Rock From The Sun'!

Am I the only one who hated the Cosby show?? I just never found Bill Cosby funny, for some reason

From the list, I'd go with Married with Children, fresh prince (up to about the time that the mothers were changed) and Father Ted.

Bill Cosby is legendary! You gotta love Cosby, same way you gotta love Gary Coleman! :D

Poll is a little flawed - The Cosby Show and Different Strokes werent comedies - twee featherweight family dramas.
And : Father Ted, a comedy alright, but looks out of place in a list of Amercana. If you are inluding recent English stuff, then where's Blackaddar, Bottom etc

And : By old school I was expected George and Mildred, Dads Army etc.

IMO British comedy is streets ahead of American comedy. I find a lot of it very bland and even unfunny. :(

Whoa, hold the phone! There's only space for 10 options in the poll and I just put in the first 9 that came into my head plus the other option. The whole threads about discussing any old school comedies you want, doesn't just have to be the ones in the poll.
Old school is basically any comedy that isn't still making new episodes, by the way.

    Daemonic,

I was going to say The Good Life & Yes Minister! Can't believe you sneaked in just ahead of me with both my faves. :D

We must be of a similar vintage.

No, I hated it too. About as funny as a dose of the clap.

Fawlty Towers and Yes, Minister/Prime Minister are streets ahead of anything else. Two funniest shows ever, IMO.

Yeah, I second that. Best comedy in long time.

Fawlty towers next. Father Teds the best on the poll.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,025 ✭✭✭slipss

From the ones on the poll I'd say Father Ted, then That 70's show, thought the rest were crap. Not on the poll I'd say Fools and Horses, Faulty Towers and The Thin Blue Line, anyone remember that, with Rowan Atkinson in it?
